There is nothing I love more than delicious food that does not require silverware. Meat pies. Hold in your hand, delicious meat pies. Crispy flaky crust on the outside and solid meat mixture on the inside. Buttery chicken curry had flavor and wasn't overwhelming or runny like a pot pie would be. As for the cookies and cream milk shake, it was a nice smooth consistency where drinking it didn't feel like you were sucking for oxygen out of a straw. Overall, I recommend this place. They also have an assortment of desserts and beer on tap, so it makes for a great place to just chill and hang out.
Overall, good addition to the TV food scene!
My hubby and I love exploring new restaurants so we decided to stop by Kiwi during their soft opening. The area is gorgeous, nicely styled, and spacious.
Service was friendly and welcoming as they still figure out a few minor logistics/their rhythm.
We tried the mince & cheese and chicken & mushroom. The first was cheesy goodness and the latter was light & fresh. Their desserts tasted great but were just a tad dry (specifically the carrot cake). Nice tea and beer selection.
We are very excited for them to fully get going! Boise has needed a place like this!
Extremely mediocre experience. Great location for happy hour and that’s about it. Service was quick. Staff was irritable and impatient. Food was hot yet boring. Ambience was on point, chill and relaxed - contemplated bumping this to a 3 because of this.
Service: Riley was on point, kind and quick. I only know her name because the other woman on shift yelled across the restaurant asking for her to get a customer fry sauce. No name tags, which fits the ambience.
Staff: Came around 7pm, two closers one of whom was kind (Riley) and the other one was impatient and was short fused when we asked about the menu. Typically I feel for service workers, but her attitude just made me want to walk out.
Food: it wasn’t as seasoned as I expected after having been told it’s like a pie with a gravy in it from the staff (photo to show the insides).
Food is good and the space is nice, but totally thrown off by the tv programming. I get the theme and I understand how Planet Earth documentaries fit into that theme, but totally put off by watching animals rip each other apart while eating. Maybe that’s just me? 🤷🏻♀️ …
Love having a New Zealand style option here in Boise!! The meat pies are my favorite, not fully sold on the mousetraps yet but I’ll give it another chance. The pastries are worth a buy to share with friends until you find your favorite- the rum ball here is going to be a repeat purchase! 👍🏼👍🏼 …
The interior design, the aesthetic of the smaller details (ex. metal straws with their name on it), the location and the food is just wonderful! I have already been recommending Kiwi Shake & Bake to my friends. This place will be a nice summer stop near the Greenbelt! Keep up the good work.
I’m so pleased we tried this place out! Amazing service and the food was delicious. The pictured giant ice cream cup was only $2.50! We tried the steak and onion pie and the chicken, bacon cream cheese pie and liked them both. Plus they allow dogs on their patio. Hidden gem in downtown Boise!
Prices are not too high and pies are served hot and fresh. It was almost closing when we went in and the girl who took our order was short and acted like it was burdensome I was there with my wife.
The pies had complex flavor and I enjoyed my steak and mushroom. I probably won't be back as the food isn't really my type.
Decor is amazing but I really wish a New Zealand restaurant would carry Old Mout cider.
5/5 decor
4/5 price
2/5 staff
4/5 food
0/5 New Zealand cider choices.
